USA- Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), a global leader in agricultural processing, has a by successfully loaded and shipped its first vessels of verified, traceable soybeans from the United States to Europe.
This initiative aligns with ADM’s commitment to sustainability and comes in anticipation of new deforestation regulations set to be implemented by the European Union at the end of the year.
Matt Hopkins, Vice President of North America River and Export for ADM, emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting farmers and ensuring open global markets for U.S. agricultural products.

This program and our comprehensive plan to achieve 100% deforestation-free supply chains by 2025 demonstrate the value of ADM’s irreplaceable global footprint and our investments in climate-smart and regenerative agriculture.”
The traceable soybean program is an extension of ADM’s International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) certified bean program.
Leveraging cutting-edge technology, including FBN’s Gradable digital platform, and ADM’s origination and transportation capabilities, the program verifies, traces, and segregates participating beans from farms to their final destination.
Following a successful pilot in 2023, which delivered 2.4 million bushels of fully traceable soybeans to European customers, ADM plans to expand the program to key North American locations in preparation for the upcoming growing season.
This expansion allows farmers to participate in global markets that offer increased value and preference for their crops.
Jon Turney, Vice President, EMEA Crush for ADM, acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating, “While there are still issues to work through in advance of the EU’s deforestation regulations, including how full compliance will be defined, measured, and enforced, we are confident in our ability to continue delivering to customers in Europe.
We will continue collaborating with stakeholders, including farmers, government, and industry, across our supply chains in the U.S. and other key regions leading up to the new regulations taking effect on Dec. 31.”
ADM’s commitment to traceability and sustainability reflects a broader industry trend as companies seek to align with global efforts to address environmental concerns and promote responsible sourcing practices.
