USA – Alltech, a global leader in agriculture and animal nutrition, is making significant strides in advancing sustainable farming practices and enhancing animal performance with Agolin’s high-quality essential oil blends.
On May 1, 2024, Alltech announced its role as the primary importer and distributor of Agolin products in the United States and Canada, marking a pivotal moment in the North American agricultural landscape.
Teaming up with Feedworks USA, Alltech aims to revolutionize animal nutrition by offering Agolin’s essential oil blends, which are scientifically proven to optimize feed intake and performance for both ruminant and non-ruminant animals.
Martha Baker, Alltech’s lead for Agolin, highlighted the company’s dedication to supporting producers in achieving higher yields while reducing environmental impact.
Agolin Ruminant, the flagship product, stands out as a game-changer in the industry. In 2018, it was the first feed additive certified by The Carbon Trust for methane reduction in ruminants.
Over 2 million dairy cows worldwide benefit from Agolin Ruminant, and its efficacy in improving milk and meat production while mitigating methane emissions has been recognized by leading carbon methodology owners like Verra and Gold Standard.
Adopting Agolin products has proven beneficial for the environment and dairy producers’ bottom lines. In December 2023, U.S. dairy farmers received nearly US$3 million in carbon-asset payments, underscoring the financial rewards alongside improved feed efficiency and increased fat and protein yield.
Feedworks USA has been instrumental in driving the adoption and growth of Agolin products in the North American market.
Peter Williams, a partner at Feedworks USA, emphasized the remarkable productivity and efficiency benefits of Agolin Ruminant for U.S. dairies, with an estimated return of over US$10 for every US$1 invested, primarily through carbon credits.
Alltech’s acquisition of a majority interest in Agolin SA in May 2023 further solidified its commitment to advancing sustainable nutrition solutions.
Founded in Switzerland in 2006, Agolin has been at the forefront of developing plant-based nutrition solutions scientifically proven to enhance herd performance, profitability, and sustainability.
Alltech plans to commence production in its U.S. manufacturing facilities by mid-2025 to ensure expanded access to Agolin products for U.S. producers.
