USA – Carnivore Meat, a leading US-based pet food company, has announced the appointment of Heather Govea as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Govea, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the pet food industry, joins Carnivore Meat from her most recent role as Chief Strategy Officer at Alphia, a prominent player in the US pet food sector.

With a career spanning decades, Heather Govea brings a wealth of expertise to her new role at Carnivore Meat. Before her tenure at Alphia, she spent nearly eight years at CJ Foods before its merger with American Nutrition to form Alphia in 2020.

Govea’s impressive track record also includes a noteworthy stint at Natural Balance Foods, where she served for 14 years.

Expressing her excitement about her new role, Govea stated, “Joining Carnivore as CEO in this stage of the company’s trajectory is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Her appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Carnivore Meat as it continues to expand its presence in the pet food market.

Carnivore Meat, backed by private equity firm Arbor Investments, has been making waves in the industry since Arbor’s investment in 2021.

The company specializes in producing freeze-dried and frozen pet food, snacks, and treats under brands such as Vital Essentials, Vital Cat, Ve Raw Bar, and Nature’s Advantage. These products are distributed in the US, Canada, and 14 other international markets.

Founded in 2012 by CEO Lanny Viegut, Carnivore Meat has established itself as a leader in the pet food industry, offering high-quality products to retailers and consumers alike.

Viegut’s tenure as CEO ended in December last year, paving the way for Govea to take the reins and drive the company forward.

Chris Tuffin, a partner at Arbor Investments, emphasized the significance of Govea’s appointment, stating, “Heather brings the perfect skillset, having demonstrated success scaling several pet brands and organizations in her career along with the category insights and industry relationships to build strategic partnerships with retailers.”

In another strategic move, Vital Essentials, the flagship premium raw pet food brand of the Carnivore Meat Company, recently announced partnerships with Anipet Animal Supplies Inc. and Freedom Pet Supplies Inc., expanding the brand’s premium freeze-dried and frozen pet food distribution in Canada.
