NORTH AMERICA- Ceres Global Ag, a leading global agriculture, energy, and industrial products company based in the United States, has forged an exclusive partnership with Grupo Trimex, Mexico’s largest flour miller.
The agreement aims to pioneer regenerative agriculture initiatives, with a specific focus on expanding programs within Canadian and US hard red spring wheat supply sheds.
The partnership’s overarching objective is to drive transformative production outcomes that not only enhance grower performance but also prioritize environmental sustainability.
Carlos Paz, President, and CEO of Ceres, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “This partnership with Trimex marks a significant step forward in our core long-term priority of developing regenerative agriculture and supply chain solutions.”
Paz expressed that they see regenerative agriculture as a crucial component in mitigating the effects of climate change and bringing about favorable results for both their farmers and the environment. They stated that their partnership with Trimex enables them to promote more effective farming techniques and offer customized solutions to their key clients.
Mar Gutiérrez, Sustainability and Social Impact Manager at Grupo Trimex, emphasized the importance of transparency across the supply chain, adding that the partnership aims to work with growers in the adoption of new practices on their farms that add value to the growers while also helping improve sustainable wheat production.
Regenerative agriculture, as outlined by the partnership, focuses on rebuilding and maintaining soil health by promoting biodiversity, improving the water cycle, and increasing organic matter within the soil.
It encompasses a range of practices aimed at enhancing soil productivity, minimizing erosion, and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions or capturing carbon in the soil to combat climate change.
Jeff Wildeman, Managing Director at Ceres, expressed enthusiasm about working alongside wheat growers and Grupo Trimex in accelerating the journey of improvement.
“Wheat growers across the US northern plains and the Canadian prairies have been among the quickest to adopt practices like zero till and diverse crop rotations to support soil health and improve outcomes on their farms,” stated Wildeman.
Wilderman emphasized the importance of working together to find practical and scalable solutions that benefit both the growers and the environment.
This collaboration between Ceres Global and Grupo Trimex underscores a shared commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture practices, offering a promising outlook for the future of regenerative agriculture in the North American wheat industry.
