SAUDI ARABIA – CESCO EPC has announced a significant collaboration with United Feed Co. (UFC) on a storage and conveying project in Saudi Arabia.

This new development includes the construction of 15 corrugated steel flat-bottom storage silos, boasting a total capacity of 205,152 tonnes.

The project is a strategic initiative to bolster UFC’s capacity to store and manage essential feedstock materials. By establishing this extensive storage facility, UFC can maintain a substantial reserve, thereby mitigating the risks associated with supply chain disruptions.

The plant is engineered to handle free-flowing materials such as grains, cereals, and oilseeds. It features two high-capacity receiving lines for grain, each with a throughput of 400 tonnes per hour (tph), alongside two 125 tph lines dedicated to soy meal. This setup ensures a consistent daily intake, which is essential for UFC’s production needs.

A state-of-the-art pre-cleaning process is integrated into the facility, employing advanced rotary cleaners and magnet pipes to eliminate grain impurities.

Flow scales further enhance the accuracy of incoming material measurements, optimizing production efficiency and cost control.

The design also incorporates a versatile reclaiming and recycling system, allowing for the efficient distribution of stored materials. Depending on production requirements, grain can be directed to bulk truck out-loading silos, bagging lines, or returned to storage.

CESCO’s comprehensive conveyor system, featuring chain conveyors, belt bucket elevators, and roller belt conveyors, is a highlight of the project.

These conveyors are designed for improved cleanability, reduced maintenance needs, and a modular design that simplifies transport and installation.

The facility’s design allows for simultaneous operations, such as grain and soy meal receiving and loading, which maximizes overall efficiency and throughput. Additionally, the project is designed for future expansion.

An additional nine corrugated steel flat-bottom storage silos can be added, increasing the total capacity by over 123,091 tonnes, bringing the combined capacity to 328,243 tonnes. The soy meal storage area will also be doubled to 7,600 square meters.

Founded in 1985, UFC has become a pivotal player in Saudi Arabia’s food industry. The company is known for its high-quality, 100% plant-based animal feed products, including various forms of barley.

This collaboration with CESCO is a strategic move that strengthens UFC’s ability to maintain a stable supply of essential animal feed products, significantly contributing to the region’s food security.

As UFC enhances its storage and conveying capabilities, the company is well-positioned to support the market’s growing demands and ensure the reliability of its supply chain.
