NIGERIA – Dantata Foods, a privately owned Agricultural and Food Products Company has announced that they have secured the services of Blumberg Grain to construct state-of-the-art food security and storage facilities for local produce to be located in Kano, Nigeria.
Founded in 2005 in Kano, Dantata Foods is particularly active in agriculture, processing, export, and distribution of agri-food products and consumer products.
The announcement was made in a press release published on December 11.
The Dantata Foods project is slated to begin construction during the first quarter of 2024 and provides for the establishment of facilities dedicated to cereals, fertilizers, and seeds as well as a specialized onion storage center.
Additionally, this project is designed to address hardships for Nigerian farmers due in part to climate change which has damaged Nigerian agriculture increased post-harvest losses, and decreased crop yields.
According to country data, in Nigeria, post-harvest losses affect up to 50% of horticultural production.
Faced with this situation which limits food availability, operators are investing more in storage and preservation solutions.
Blumberg Grain’s experience and technology in grains, produce, and perishables will provide us with the tools we need to grow,” said Tajuddeen Dantata, President and Founder of Dantata Foods.
He noted that the company wanted to have the best technology and expertise to showcase modern food safety and storage facilities and systems.
