POLAND- The Polish competition authority granted regulatory approval to ForFarmers’ acquisition of Piast Pasze, as announced by the companies on December 7.

The merger, initially disclosed in July, will substantially bolster ForFarmers’ annual feed production in Poland by an impressive 410,000 tonnes, further solidifying its position in the broiler sector.

ForFarmers/Tasomix, the Polish brand under the umbrella of Lochem, Netherlands-based ForFarmers, has been a prominent player in the Polish market for over 30 years.

According to the Dutch Feed Industry Association, ForFarmers/Tasomix is one of the largest feed producers in the Netherlands by inventory turnover.

Specializing in the poultry sector, ForFarmers/Tasomix also has strategic focuses on expanding in both the ruminant and pig sectors.

On the other hand, Piast has operated in the Polish market from as early as the 1970s, mainly focusing on broiler and turkey farmers in the free market.

Pawel Swierkula, the managing director of ForFarmers/Tasomix, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, emphasizing its alignment with the company’s growth objectives in Poland.

This cooperation is a great step forward for both parties,” Swierkula stated when the merger was initially announced in July. “Piast and ForFarmers/Tasomix have similar company cultures and the same attitude toward customers. Working together offers us a larger operating area in centers of growth in our country and will therefore help us to enhance the solid platform to further develop and improve a sustainable future for our business.

Piast Pasze, with its origins dating back to the 1970s and its initial location in Lewkowiec, central Poland, has evolved over the years.

Initially focused on servicing broiler and turkey farmers in the free market, Piast expanded its product portfolio to include offerings for pigs and cattle.

The company also acquired additional production locations in Plonsk, Golancz, and Olesno. Currently, Piast employs 220 individuals engaged in management, sales, and production.

ForFarmers, operating in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Poland, boasts an annual sales figure of approximately 9 million tonnes of animal feed in Europe.

The merger with Piast Pasze aligns with ForFarmers’ strategic vision for growth and expansion in key European markets.

The successful regulatory approval marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing evolution of ForFarmers and Piast Pasze, creating a stronger entity poised to navigate the competitive landscape of the European feed manufacturing sector.
