USA – General Mills is gearing up for the football season by launching two new snack products and reviving a fan favourite designed to enhance tailgating experiences.

The new offerings, which include Bugles Tabasco Flavored Crispy Corn Snacks and Aged Cheddar Gardetto’s, along with the return of Chex Mix in Tailgate Size bags, aim to cater to the appetites of football fans across the country.

The announcement was made on September 24, 2024, as part of General Mills’ strategy to capitalize on the growing popularity of tailgating culture. “Snacks can make or break a gathering,” said a General Mills representative.

This sentiment reflects the importance of having the right snacks on hand during game day, as fans often seek bold flavours and familiar textures to complement their football-watching experience.

One of the standout products is Bugles Tabasco Flavored Crispy Corn Snacks, which combines the iconic cone-shaped snacks with the zesty kick of Tabasco sauce.

Initially available exclusively at 7-Eleven, this product will roll out to other retailers nationwide starting in December.

Priced at US$3.99 for a 7.5-ounce package and US$5.49 for a 14.5-ounce package, these snacks are fun and flavorful options for tailgaters looking to spice up their snack spread.

Another exciting addition is Aged Cheddar Gardetto’s, marking the brand’s first new snack mix introduction in years.

This mix features an assortment of pretzels, rye crackers, cheddar crackers, and breadsticks, all seasoned with a sharp and tangy aged cheddar flavour.

With an MSRP of US$4.29 for an 8.6-ounce bag, this snack aims to deliver a satisfying crunch that fans can enjoy while cheering on their teams.

In addition to these new products, General Mills is reintroducing Chex Mix Tailgate Size bags, available in Traditional, Cheddar, and Bold Party Blend varieties.

These larger bags are designed to ensure that there’s enough mix for everyone at gatherings.

They contain a delightful combination of corn and wheat Chex cereal pieces, rye chips, bagel chips, and mini breadsticks. These bags are available across the U.S. and priced at US$6.99.

General Mills’ focus on tailgating is part of a broader effort to engage consumers during one of the most popular times of the year for snack consumption.

According to industry trends, tailgating events often see significant increases in snack sales as fans prepare for game day festivities.

“Choosing the right snack is vital,” noted another spokesperson from General Mills, emphasising that snacks should be tasty and easy to share among friends.

As part of their commitment to enhancing the tailgating experience, General Mills has also launched initiatives like Tailgate Nation, which promotes in-person and virtual tailgating events across college football games this fall.

This program aims to unite fans through interactive experiences celebrating their love for sports and snacking.
