TURKEY – Imas, a prominent player in the grain and feed milling technologies sector, has once again been recognized as one of Turkey’s top research and development (R&D) leaders by Turkishtime.

For the eighth consecutive year since 2015, Imas has been included on Turkishtime’s prestigious list, which ranks companies based on their annual R&D expenditures.

Established in 1989, Imas has grown to become a global brand with over 500 turnkey projects across more than 100 countries on five continents. The company’s continued commitment to innovation has strengthened its position as a leader in the grain and feed milling sector.

Imas’s recognition as one of Turkey’s top R&D leaders underscores its role in driving technological advancements and promoting sustainable practices in the milling industry.

The company moved up 10 spots, achieving the 174th position among the top 250 R&D leaders, compared to 184th in the previous year. Moreover, Imas secured a spot among the top 10 R&D leaders of the Turkish Machinery Industry.

In 2023, Imas allocated a budget of US$1.75 million for R&D activities, with spending reaching US$1.6 million.

The company’s investments have been directed toward innovations that enhance the grain and feed milling industries, contributing to Turkey’s overall industrial growth.

“We work on bringing innovations for grain and feed milling industries, as well as offering value addition for our country,” said Murat Apakhan, the production and R&D deputy general manager at Imas.

Additionally, Imas has been focused on improving process control, sanitation, energy efficiency, and digitalization within the industry.

Last year, the company introduced the Polymer Base Construction, a new chassis design for roller mills with higher durability, which earned an innovation award at the IAOM USA exhibition. In 2024, Imas launched new-generation torque motors for roller mills, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in grain milling operations.

“We also have plans to come out with some other significant projects by the end of this year,” Apakhan added.

The Imas R&D Center in Konya, Turkey, is at the forefront of these developments, setting new engineering standards in the grain and feed milling industries. It operates with a large team, including a university-industry partnership, and utilizes advanced testing and software-based analysis methods.

The center conducts extensive performance tests and validation trials on machinery and equipment, ensuring that new and improved designs meet the industry’s rigorous standards.
