USA – Mars Petcare, a leading name in the pet food industry has issued a recall for 315 bags of PEDIGREE Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food in the US.

The recall, prompted by potential contamination with loose metal pieces, affects the 44 lb. bags of dog food sold exclusively at Walmart stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. The products in question have a Best-by Date of March 4, 2025, bearing Lot Code 410B2TXT02.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced this precautionary measure to prevent any health risks to pets. While no injuries or illnesses have been reported to date, Mars Petcare is taking swift action to ensure the safety of pets and the satisfaction of pet owners.

The metal fragments in the dog food are likely due to equipment malfunctions or wear and tear within the manufacturing process. Common causes include faulty machinery or loose parts that may break off and contaminate the product during production.

Mars Petcare emphasizes that regular maintenance and rigorous quality control checks are essential to mitigating such risks.

Mars Petcare has confirmed that no other PEDIGREE or Mars Petcare products are affected by this recall. The company is collaborating closely with Walmart in the affected states to remove the impacted products from shelves and ensure they are no longer available for purchase.

For pet owners who have purchased the affected PEDIGREE dog food, Mars Petcare advises discontinuing use immediately and contacting their customer service for further instructions on refunds or replacements. The company remains dedicated to maintaining the highest quality and safety standards in its products.
