HUNGARY- Nestlé Hungária has unveiled plans to inject a staggering €141 million (approximately US$152 million) into its pet food plant located in Bük, Hungary to bolster its pet food production capabilities, according to a recent press conference.
This substantial investment is poised to not only enhance production capacity but also generate approximately 130 new employment opportunities.
The ambitious venture entails the establishment of a new production unit along with the installation of two state-of-the-art automated production lines at the Bük facility.
Upon completion, the plant is slated to ramp up its production capacity to a remarkable 500,000 tonnes of pet food annually, a substantial surge from the 200,000 tonnes recorded in 2019, becoming the largest food industry investment in Hungary.
Notably, a staggering 85% of the manufactured products are earmarked for export, underscoring the pivotal role of the Hungarian facility in catering to global market demands.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, affirmed the government’s commitment to facilitate the necessary infrastructure developments to support Nestlé Hungária’s ambitious investment endeavors.
The collaborative efforts between the state and the private sector exemplify a concerted drive toward fostering economic growth and development within Hungary’s thriving industrial landscape.
This transformative project forms an integral component of Nestlé Hungaria’s comprehensive five-year investment strategy, amounting to a whopping €772 million (approximately US$833 million), and creating around 600 new jobs, which was set in motion back in 2020.
