USA – North Dakota Soybean Processors (NDSP) has officially opened its new state-of-the-art facility near Casselton, offering local soybean producers a convenient and profitable market for their crops.

With a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 7, 2024, the inauguration marks a significant milestone for the state, as the facility is North Dakota’s second soybean crush plant.

The plant, which is a joint venture between CGB Enterprises, Inc. (CGB) and Minnesota Soybean Processors (MnSP), began accepting soybeans on July 18 and is expected to process up to 42.5 million bushels of soybeans into various products during its first year of operation. The facility currently employs about 75 people.

Governor Doug Burgum attended the ceremony and praised the project as part of a broader initiative to process more of North Dakota’s agricultural commodities within the state.

He highlighted the facility’s role in reducing transportation costs for growers, providing better local market prices, creating jobs, and enhancing the United States’ food and energy security.

This new facility is part of a larger trend in North Dakota, where multiple soybean processing plants are emerging.

Following the launch of Green Bison Soy Processing in Spiritwood last September and with Epitome Energy planning a plant in Grand Forks, these facilities combined will be able to process approximately 75% of the state’s soybean crop.

This development underscores a growing confidence in North Dakota’s soybean production quality and represents a significant investment in the state’s economy.

MnSP, operational since 2003, also operates a soybean crushing and biodiesel refining facility in Brewster, Minnesota.

Meanwhile, CGB, through its subsidiary Consolidated Grain and Barge Co., manages a vast network of over 100 grain facilities across the Midwest, including a soy-crushing facility in Mount Vernon, Indiana.

The ceremony celebrated the completion of this state-of-the-art facility and the collaborative efforts of various state departments that supported the project’s development, including securing essential infrastructure and water supply.
