NETHERLANDS – Nutreco, a global powerhouse in animal nutrition, has announced a sweeping transformation in its leadership structure, accompanied by the creation of a pivotal executive role.

Taking the helm at Trouw Nutrition, a key subsidiary of Nutreco, is Eduardo Lopes Alberto, who will step into the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective June 1, 2024.

Alberto, a seasoned industry leader, boasts a distinguished career path, having previously served as Vice President of Global Innovation and Research at Trouw Nutrition.

His extensive experience spans strategic positions at DSM-Firmenich, Elanco Animal Health, and MSD Animal Health. Alberto’s appointment follows the tenure of David Blakemore, who is slated to transition into the CEO role at Nutreco.

With Alberto’s strategic vision and wealth of expertise, Trouw Nutrition is poised to embark on a new era of growth and innovation. Nutreco’s commitment to delivering sustainable and high-quality nutrition solutions for animals is underscored by this significant leadership change.

In tandem with Alberto’s appointment, Nutreco has unveiled the creation of the Chief Digital Officer position, a role that will be filled by Maarten Bijl, effective June 1, 2024. Bijl, currently serving as Managing Director of Trouw Nutrition North America, brings to the table a robust background in strategy and commercial management cultivated across various SHV companies.

His mandate will revolve around spearheading Nutreco’s digital transformation initiatives, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and data analytics to drive productivity enhancements and elevate customer experiences across Nutreco’s portfolio of brands, including Trouw Nutrition and Skretting.

In other news, Nutreco embarks on a strategic alliance with Icelandic salmon producer LAXEY, underscoring its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the aquaculture industry.

This collaborative venture, bolstered by Nutreco’s recent investment in LAXEY’s EUR 40 million capital increase, marks a pivotal step towards the expansion of LAXEY’s hybrid flow-through salmon project in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland’s Westman Islands.
