USA- Pioneer, a leading agricultural company, has unveiled its latest innovation with the introduction of the Pioneer brand Z-Series soybeans in the United States and Canada.

This new line of soybeans marks a significant advancement in soybean agriculture, boasting exceptional yield potential and robust disease resistance, according to the company.

Liz Knutson, Pioneer U.S. Soybean Marketing Lead, hailed the Z-Series as a remarkable leap forward in yield potential and agronomic performance, representing the sixth generation in Pioneer’s 50-year history of soybean breeding. Knutson emphasized the Z-Series’ pivotal role in driving trait technology and enhancing soybean performance.

In extensive trials, the Z-Series soybeans have showcased a nearly 3-bushel per acre (bu/A) yield advantage over Pioneer’s renowned A-Series soybeans. The 2023 IMPACT trials revealed an average yield advantage of 2.7 bu/A, translating to a significant increase in return on investment for farmers.

Don Kyle, Pioneer Soybean Breeding Evaluation Lead, underscored the revolutionary impact of the Z-Series, noting its exceptional yield performance across various maturity groups. The data consistently position Z-Series soybeans as the highest-yielding varieties, signaling a breakthrough in soybean breeding.

Moreover, the Z-Series boasts superior disease and pest resistance, with improved scores in critical areas such as sudden death syndrome (SDS), brown stem rot, white mold, iron deficiency chlorosis, soybean cyst nematode (SCN), and Phytophthora.

This resilience is attributed to Pioneer’s extensive research and development efforts, drawing upon one of the world’s largest and most diverse soybean germplasm libraries.

The new soybean series comprises over 50 varieties in the U.S. and 20 in Canada, with many featuring the Enlist E3 soybean trait for herbicide tolerance. This trait offers farmers flexibility in weed control and mitigates the risk of herbicide-resistant weeds.

Additionally, specific varieties tailored for the Southern U.S. will incorporate BOLT technology and the STS gene, catering to reduced-till and no-till farming practices in the region.

Limited availability of Z-Series soybeans is slated for the 2024 planting season, with a broader release planned for 2025. The series covers relative maturities ranging from 00.3 to 6.4, addressing the diverse needs of North American farmers.

Knutson expressed confidence in the Z-Series, citing comprehensive data that highlight its performance advantages. Pioneer anticipates rapid adoption of Z-Series soybeans among farmers, recognizing the tangible benefits they offer for improved yields and disease resilience in soybean cultivation.
