SPAIN – Symaga, a global leader in galvanized steel silo manufacturing, has announced plans to implement a significant upgrade in its production process by introducing S450GD steel starting October 1.
This new steel type will replace the current structural steel used in stiffeners and body sheets of its silos, promising to enhance the overall structural quality while reducing the final weight.
The switch aims to provide several benefits, including improved durability and a more efficient supply chain, which aligns with Symaga’s commitment to optimizing its storage solutions for customers.
The adoption of S450GD steel brings a range of advantages for both the company and its customers. With a higher yield strength, the new steel type will upgrade body sheets and stiffeners from 350N/mm² to 450N/mm², thereby reducing the overall weight of the silos without compromising on structural integrity.
This reduction in weight is expected to lower the costs associated with logistics and assembly, making Symaga’s silos more cost-effective and easier to handle. Additionally, the switch will lead to a more streamlined supply chain by ensuring greater availability of materials and reducing the need for multiple purchasing references.
To ensure a smooth transition, Symaga plans to use both types of steel in its production line for a period, thereby maintaining delivery schedules and fulfilling existing orders.
This upgrade is part of the company’s broader Product Development Plan, which aims to enhance its storage solutions continuously.
“The implementation of a higher quality structural steel is part of our annual Product Development Plan, aligned with our goal of optimizing storage solutions for our customers,” Symaga stated.
This move also ties into Symaga’s ongoing efforts to increase sustainability in its operations. Recently, the company made significant investments to expand its solar plant’s capacity from 200kW to 800kW, ensuring that around 70% of its manufacturing activities are powered by renewable energy.
Additionally, Symaga invested in advanced production equipment, resulting in a 30% increase in productivity in specific sectors, such as the silo roof manufacturing process.
These initiatives underscore Symaga’s dual focus on innovation and sustainability, maintaining its position as a forward-looking player in the global storage solutions market.
