GERMANY- Symrise, a global supplier of flavor, food, fragrances, and cosmetic solutions, recently announced that it has added chickpea and aquafaba ingredients to its diana food portfolio.

According to the company, the diana food chickpea and aquafaba ingredients are designed to enhance plant-based food products and offer cleaner labels. These ingredients include chickpea flakes and aquafaba flakes.

Chickpea has become a food of choice for nutrition-conscious consumers who care about the impact of their diet on the planet.

According to a recent Euromonitor study, 42% of the population is restricting its consumption of animal-based products,” said Sophie Helleux, product manager in the Naturals Business Unit of Symrise Food & Beverage.

Symrise addresses this demand with its chickpea and aquafaba ingredients. The company produces chickpea flakes, which are a vegan protein option.

Their high protein and fiber content make them a valuable nutritional ally for plant-based recipes. They add texture and juiciness to a variety of dishes, including falafels, nutritious snacks, and dips like hummus.

Aquafaba – literally, “bean water” in Latin – refers to the cooking water of chickpeas. Symrise has utilized its technological expertise to develop aquafaba flakes. They serve as a vegan alternative to egg yolk, enabling clear labeling.

They add texture to products while providing water and oil retention properties. Aquafaba flakes provide a vegan alternative that offers a similar texture and taste to mayonnaise and salad dressings.

These chickpea ingredients constitute another way in which Symrise is addressing the growing, trendy plant-based market. Aquafaba offers the perfect vegan alternative to egg yolk, while chickpea flakes enhance the nutritional value,” Sophie Helleux added.

Additionally, Symrise chickpea and aquafaba flakes allow clear and understandable labeling, such as “Aquafaba (chickpea water)” or “Chickpea”.

They are suitable for a wide range of recipes, thanks to their light taste and color. Precooked, these kitchen-like ingredients are easy to use. Conveniently, they only require ambient storage and have a long shelf-life of up to eighteen months.

According to Symrise, both ingredients are pre-cooked, which may result in a longer shelf life. They also contain no EU allergens, are gluten-free, and non-GMO.

They also expand their already extensive range of natural food and beverage solutions, adhering to the principle of the code of nature.

They offer a wide variety of options for plant-based applications, which empowers the company to meet the increasingly demanding expectations of customers and consumers in terms of taste, nutrition, and health benefits in everything they consume.
