USA- American agribusiness The Andersons has completed the purchase of ACJ International and its subsidiaries, an ingredient, logistics, and supply chain management company that serves the pet food ingredient industry.
The Andersons is a diversified company rooted in agriculture. It conducts business in commodity merchandising, renewables, plant nutrition, and high-quality pet food ingredients.
“The pet food industry continues to increase its demand for high-quality and responsibly sourced ingredients,” said Weston Heide, senior vice president for The Andersons Trade and Processing.
This acquisition adds to a thriving pet food portfolio The Andersons already has in place.
“This acquisition expands our portfolio of ingredients while enhancing our supply chain services throughout the central region of the US to provide further support for our customers in the pet food markets,” Heide added.
Bill Krueger, The Andersons COO and president of trade and processing, echoed the same sentiments concerning the acquisition.
“We are looking forward to this opportunity to provide value-add ingredients and processing as well as enhanced supply chain services for the pet food industry,” Krueger commented.
Although the financial terms of the transaction remain obscure, the purchase includes ACJ’s headquarters in Lake St. Louis, Missouri, US, and its facility locations in Joplin, Missouri; Webb City, Missouri; and Monroe, Wisconsin.
ACJ sources quality ingredients and offers them in whole or ground and in bulk, totes, or bags for customer convenience.
Some of the most popular ingredients include barley, brewers yeast, dried yeast, peas, sweet potatoes, garbanzo beans, carrots, animal proteins, and animal meals.
The company offers global supply chain management, dry ingredients blending, warehousing, and fulfillment, translating to truck or rail, repackaging, and grinding, among its services.
“We are excited to be joining an organization with such a rich history and deep roots in agriculture,” said Michael Peterson, president of ACJ International LLC.
“Being a part of The Andersons will provide our customers access to an expanded portfolio of ingredients and services while maintaining high standards of quality, integrity, and transparency,” Peterson added.
The ACJ purchase follows The Andersons’ acquisition of Bridge Agri Partners in November, which also specializes in providing ingredients to the pet food industry in the central region of the United States and Canada.
